Samuel Wegner, senior at Castle View High School, accepts a Student of the Month plaque from club President Elaine Love. Also there were CVHS Assistant Principal Ryan Hollingshead, left, and Wegner’s father Greg. The club honors nine students per year from CVHS. The club meets Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the Village Inn restaurant in Castle Rock. Visitors are always welcome.

Samuel Wegner has been selected at the Student of the Month by The Rotary Club of Castle Rock.
Wegner, a senior at Castle View High School, received the award at a recent club meeting where he was introduced by Assistant Principal Ryan Hollingshead.
Hollingshead said Wegner was a well-rounded student at CVHS participating in student government, speech and debate, the engineering team and the track team. In addition, he carries a 3.8 grade point average and is taking an advanced placement macroeconomics course, physics and third year sign language and some courses that will give him college credit.
Wegner is also involved in the schools Make A Difference week where the school will be raising money to help homeless students in Denver.
Hollingshead said Wegner’s teachers call him a personable, dedicated and creative student. He also was called friendly, outgoing, conscientious and someone with great potential. It was said that the biggest challenge Wegner will have is deciding what he wants to do.
Wegner agreed, telling the club he either wants to study aerospace engineering or business and marketing. He said one of his goals is to work for Boeing and build airplanes.
Wegner said he has applied to attend Arizona State University and Colorado State University and will be making a choice soon.
