Claire Cartwright has been chosen as Student of the Month for April for the Rotary Club of Castle Rock. She is active in the music program at Castle View High School and carries a 4.0 GPA. Presenting the award was Assistant Principal Ryan Hollingshead. Also in the photo are Elaine Love, left, President of the club, and Cartwright's mother, Renae, and father Chad. The club meets Wednesday's at 7 a.m. at the Village Inn restaurant in Castle Rock. Visitors are always welcome.
 
Claire Cartwright has been selected April Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Castle Rock.
Cartwright, a senior at Castle View High School, is very active in the music programs at the school as well as athletics. She earned an academic letter all four years of high school, is in the Tri M Music Honor Society, was a lacrosse junior varsity player in 2017, is in the National Honor Society, the Thespian Society and is in competitive dance.
She carries a 4.0 GPA and ranks 56thin a class of 555 in addition to having several leadership roles at the school, including President of the Voices of the Pride, Secretary of the Red Hot Jazz Choir and an officer in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Cartwright also volunteers in the community at the Dumb Friends League and as an Assistant Caregiver at the Renew Respite Care service. She also works at a local restaurant.
Cartwright was introduced to the club by Castle View Assistant Principal Ryan Hollingshead. He said Cartwright goes above and beyond to be a valuable contributing member of the student body at CVHS. He said she has appeared in three musicals and has made the All-State Choir for three years.
He said her theater teachers say Cartwright is a talented and compassionate student with a wonderful personality and style.
Cartwright told the club she plans to attend Bellmont College in Nashville, Tenn., and major in entertainment studies where she can be involved in singing and learning the business side of the entertainment industry.
