Kelsey Arbogast, senior at Castle View High School, has been selected as the Rotary Club of Castle Rock’s Student of the Month for January.
She was honored at a recent meeting for her academics achievements, school activities and community service.
CVHS Principal James Calhoun introduced Arbogast to the club. He said Arbogast’s teachers described her as a gifted student who shows maturity and a strong work ethic.
She was called a natural leader who is receptive to feedback, sees the good with the bad and perseveres to move to the top of her classes. She was said to have publication quality writing. She was called a quiet leader among leaders.
Arbogast is an athlete who runs cross country and the mile and two mile distances. She earned a varsity letter in cross country from 2011 to 2014 and a letter in track from 2012 to 2015. She also was on the school’s rock climbing team and in the school’s medical club. She was named to the Academic All State First Team.
She is in the National Honor Society and the National Honor Society in Spanish. Her grade point average is 4.09 which ranks 13th in a class of 447.
Her community service includes tutoring students in math and reading and working at the front desk of the labor and delivery department at the Castle Rock Adventist Hospital.
Arbogast told the club she plans to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder and major in biology and psychology. She hopes one day to be a doctor.
