Peyton Howell, senior at Castle View High School, receives a Student of the Month plaque from Rotary Club President Elaine Love. Also at the presentation were Howell parents, Elizabeth and Brian, and CVHS Assistant Principal Katie Winsor.

Peyton Howell was selected as the Student of the Month for January by the Rotary Club of Castle Rock.

Howell, a senior at Castle View High School, is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll, the National Honor Society and has received academic letters. She also is very active in music and theater, participating all four years of high school. She was also part of the Link Crew, an organization to help new students adjust to high school.

Howell also was active in her church and participated or lead groups like Young Life and Wyld Life, groups she described as dedicated to bringing high school students to Christ.

CVHS Assistant Principal Katie Winsor introduced Howell to the club. She said Howell was one of the hardest working students in the school and goes above and beyond in school and out, being very active in the community.

Winsor said Howell’s teachers describe her as being a role model for other students. They said she has a great attitude and helps others whenever she can. “They call her mom,” Winsor said.

“She is a compassionate but firm with those she helps.”

Howell said most of her community service involved working in youth camps for her church.

Howell told the club she plans to attend a four-year university to study nursing or medicine. She has narrowed her choices to the University of Baylor, San Diego State or the University of Pugent Sound.
