Allison Burgess has been named Student of the Month for October by the Rotary Club of Castle Rock.
Burgess, a senior at Castle View High School, was introduced to the club at a recent meeting by Ryan Hollingshead, assistant principal at Castle View.
Hollingshead said Burgess is a complete student who studies hard, participates in school activities and works hard to make the school a better place. She is a member of the French Honor Society, the National Honor Society, participates in student government, the LINK Crew, competitive dancing and helped rewrite the student handbook.
She has completed many Advanced Placement classes and carries a 4.1 grade point average.
Hollingshead said one of Burgess’s teachers said she is hard working and loves to learn. She has a positive attitude, loves to read and was voted a Best Buddy where she assists in a severe needs class.
Another teacher said Burgess is concerned about the well being of others and that she often learns from Burgess. The teachers said, “I’m a better teacher because of her.”
Burgess told the club she has been accepted into the University of Arizona with a significant academic scholarship. She said she plans to major in dance or astrophysics.
