Wyatt Leadens accepts a Student of the Month plaque from Rotary Club President Jerry Lionetti. Also attending were Castle View High School Principal Rex Corr, right, and Wyatt’s mother, Racquel.

Wyatt Leadens has been selected as Rotary Student of the Month for November by the Rotary Club of Castle Rock.

Leadens, a senior at Castle View High School, is an Honor Society Student and has won several awards during his high school career.

He earned a Sources of Strength Award during his junior year and also won an award from the American Chemical Society for his work to get a certification in solidworks.

Leadens was called a model student and a hard worker in and out of school by Castle View High Principal Rex Corr. Corr said Leadens lives on a farm outside of Sedalia and often gets up early to help with farm duties before he comes to school.

When he is at school, Corr said, Leadens is curious, thoughtful, engaged and mature, making him an outstanding student. His teachers told Corr that Leadens is positive and motivated in his Advanced Placement science classes and shows a sense of humor while being able to laugh at himself.

Leadens, who has earned a 3.98 GPA and has taken several AP classes, has been accepted to attend the Colorado School of Mines. Leadens, however, said he has not made his final decision as to which school he will attend.

Leadens said he is looking at pursuing education in mechanical engineering.
