Alexis Montague accepts a Student of the Month plaque from Rotary Club of Castle Rock President Judson Mitchel, right. Also present were Castle View High Principal Rex Corr, left, father Mark, sister Trisha and brother Braeden.

Alexis Montague, senior at Castle View High School, has been selected as the March Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Castle Rock.

Ranked number one in her class with more than a 4.0 grade point average, Montague also is in the National Honor Society, active in club soccer, is in the Girl Scouts where she earned Bronze and Silver medals, is President of the Venture Crew and a member of the Link Crew, school clubs which assist fellow students.

She earned a Science Technology Engineering and Math award in 2014 and academic letters in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Rex Corr, principal at Castle View High School, introduced Montague to the club.
He said Montague’s honor of Student of the Month was unusual because she also won the honor in her junior year but that her achievements warranted this second selection.

She has achieved more than 99.78 percent of her classmates, giving her the number one ranking in her class and will have taken at least 13 advanced placement classes by the time she graduates.

He said one of her teachers said Montague demonstrates an unparalleled determination to succeed and is a renaissance person who explores new things with an unabashed enthusiasm. She also contributes to her classes with a positive friendly face and a sincere and balanced disposition.

Montague told the club she is working toward a career in biochemistry and physics and will work toward a PhD in bioengineering and science. She has narrowed her choice of schools to Yale, Princeton or the University of Colorado at Boulder. She also said she likes to write and has begun writing a science fiction novel.
