17thAnnual Ducky Derby & Street Festival
 
Official Race Rules and Regulations
 
June 8, 2013
1.The Rotary Ducky Derby Committee will establish the race course. Ducks will be launched into Plum Creek in the vicinity of Interstate 25 at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013. If circumstances require the race to be delayed or postponed, it will be rescheduled at a time and place to be determined by the Rotary Ducky Derby Committee.
 
2. All ducks entered in the race will be provided by the Rotary Clubs of Castle Rock and shall remain the property of the Rotary Clubs of Castle Rock.
 
3.Once the ducks are launched, no members of the public shall have contact with the ducks. No attempts to free or interfere with any duck are permitted unless deemed necessary by a Race Committee member.
 
4. The race course will close 15 minutes after the first duck has crossed the finish line and/or is caught in the duck trap. Any ducks finishing after that time will not be eligible for prizes.
 
5. If natural causes or other restrictions prevent the use of Plum Creek for holding the race, then the Ducky Derby Committee may institute other means to enact a race at their sole discretion.
 
6. Numbers will be attached to each duck corresponding to a Ducky Derby ticket. The person’s or organization’s name who appears on the official ticket stub matching the number corresponding to the duck in order of finish will  be awarded the prize. Positive identification will be required to claim any prize won.
 
7. Entrants must be 21 years or older to win. If the person whose name is on a winning ticket stub is not 21 years old, the prize will be awarded to their parent or legal guardian.
 
8. No purchase is necessary in order to enter or win. However, entrants are encouraged to make a $5 donation per Ducky Derby ticket. One free Ducky Derby ticketper person may be obtained by filling out a written request on a 3”x5” card with name, address, and phone number and mailed to Ducky DerbyCommittee, P.O. Box 1045, Castle Rock, CO 80104 by June 2, 2014.
 
9. The entry portion of each Ducky Derby ticket must be completely filled out and delivered to the Ducky Derby Committee by 2:00 p.m. on June 7, 2014 for a ticket to be eligible to win a prize. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase the day of the race at the Rotary Ticket Booth located at the intersection of Second Street and Perry Street.
 
10. The Ducky Derby Committee reserves the right to limit the number of Ducky Derby tickets purchased per individual or organization.
 
11. Million Dollar Duck: The Rotary Clubs of Castle Rock have coordinated with a third party prize underwriter to offer the chance of winning a one million dollar prize. One ticket number for every 3,333 tickets sold will be selected prior to the race by the prize underwriter and kept in a sealed security envelope. At the conclusion of the race, a Race Committee official will consult with the underwriter to determine whether the duck that crosses the finish line
first has a number that matches one of the million-dollar numbers. If the numbers match, then the name on
the winning ticket stub wins the million dollar grand prize. If it is not a match, then the million dollar prize will not be
awarded and a $2,000 prize is awarded.
 
12. The million dollar prize, if won, is payable in forty (40) equal installments of $25,000 each year beginning in 2014, without any accrued interest.
 
13.New Car Duck: The Rotary Clubs of Castle Rock have coordinated with a third party prize underwriter to offer the chance of winning a new 2014 car. One ticket number for every 500 tickets sold will be selected prior to the race by the prize underwriter and kept in a sealed security envelope. At the conclusion of the race, a Race Committee official will consult with the underwriter to determine whether the duck that crosses the finish line
second has a number that matches one of the New Car Duck numbers. If the numbers match, then the name on the winning ticket stub wins the 2014 car. If it is not a match, then the 2014 car will not be awarded and a $750 prize is awarded.
 
14. Prize distribution order. If the first place duck wins the million dollar grand prize, then the $2,000 cash prize will be awarded to the second place duck. If the second place duck wins the new 2014 car, then its cash prize will go to the third place duck. If the third place duck is awarded the cash prize originally designated for the second place duck, then its cash prize will go to the fourth place duck. The fourth and fifth place ducks will be awarded cash prizes in order originally designated for the second and third place ducks if both the million dollar grand prize and the new 2014 are awarded.
 
15. The first 100 winning numbers will be posted on a Winners Board at the Ducky Derby Street Festival following the race. The top 100 winning numbers will also be posted on the Ducky Derby website. The Rotary Clubs of Castle Rock will maintain a list of prizes and reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute prizes of comparable value.
 
16. Race winners need not be present to win. Winners will be notified by telephone. If any race winner does not claim their prize by July 15, 2014, the Ducky Derby Committee will donate the prize to a charitable organization.
 
17. Each winner has sole responsibility for paying any and all taxes and similar fees on any prize(s) won and must authorize the deduction of such taxes, if any, from the prize(s) to the extent required by law.
 
18. Names and likenesses of prize winners may be used by the Rotary Clubs of Castle Rock, Castle Rock High Noon, and Castle Pines and Johnson Auto Plaza, and their designee(s) for promotional purposes without further compensation.
 
19. Club members, their spouses, and resident family members are eligible to win all prizes.
 
20. By entering, entrants release the Rotary Clubs of Castle Rock, Castle Rock High Noon, and Castle Pines and their officers, directors, and staff and other related entities from any and all liability with respect to prizes, the race, and the Street Festival.
 
21.Chances of winning depend on the total number of qualified entries.
 
22. All decisions and interpretations of these Rules and Regulations will be made by the Ducky Derby Committee and their judgment is final.
 
23. Any provision contained herein which is in conflict with any applicable law, ordinance or regulation shall be deemed omitted and the remainder of the document shall remain in full force and effect.
