It's official! May is Ducky Derby Month in Castle Rock.

Tuesday night, April 6, Castle Rock Mayor Randy Reed signed a proclamation declaring May to be Castle Rock Rotary Ducky Derby Month in recognition of the annual event that has raised many thousands of dollars for local charities.  To view the full proclamation click here on PROCLAMATION.

 

May 22 the 14th Annual Castle Rock Rotary Ducky Derby will again draw thousands of residents to Second and Wilcox streets for a street festival and Ducky Derby. Activities begin at 11 a.m. with entertainment and booths for food, arts and crafts. There also will be a silent auction and Ducky Derby memorabilia will be for sale.

 

There also will be car show and at 2 p.m. thousands of rubber ducks will be launched into Plum Creek. Each duck will carry a number that matches a ticket sold during the fund-raising drive. Winning ducks will be collected and returned to the festival grounds where the numbers will be posted.

 

Grand Prize is a chance at a $1 million annuity sponsored by Intermountain Rural Electric. First prize is $3,000. There will be dozens of other prizes including certificates to restaurants, tickets to major tourist attractions and many other goods and services. The event will close at 4 p.m. after winning tickets numbers are posted.


Tickets for the event are being sold weekends at Castle Rock grocery stories and are available at Castle Rock Bank, from any Castle Rock Rotarian. Tickets also will be available at the event.
